Who is responsible for your information?

Tuition marketplace status

The 11 Plus Edge tutor marketplace is currently paused. New tutor applications, public tutor profiles, lesson requests and tuition messages are not available while it is paused.

Information already submitted through the tuition service remains protected and is used only to administer existing records, respond to privacy, safety or legal matters, and decide whether it is still necessary to retain it. It will be reviewed and deleted or anonymised in line with the retention periods below.

Information we collect

  • Account details such as first name, username and email address, together with email-verification challenge and completion records.
  • Practice activity such as answers, scores, time used and progress.
  • Problem reports about a mock or question, including the selected category, the reporter’s explanation and the relevant mock, question or attempt reference.
  • Subscription status, Stripe customer references and billing records. We do not receive or store full card details.
  • Tuition booking details entered by a parent or guardian, including adult contact details, a student’s first name, year group, requested subject and online lesson time.
  • Tutor application and profile details, together with limited identity, reference and DBS verification metadata.
  • Tutor reviews and reports about profiles, bookings, privacy or safeguarding.
  • Private adult-to-adult tuition messages, reports about those messages, messages sent to support, and limited technical or security information created when the service is used.

We do not ask students for a date of birth or school name. Tutor profiles do not store DBS certificate images, certificate numbers, conviction details or barred-list contents.

What is required?

A first name, username, email address, password, age or guardian confirmation, and acceptance of the Terms are required to create an account. Without them we cannot create, secure or administer the account. Answers and timing information are required when a mock is taken so that it can be marked and saved; a student can choose not to start a mock. Stripe-related subscription information is created only when an adult chooses paid membership.

Children and parents

A short explanation for students

We save your answers, scores and time so you and your parent or guardian can see your progress. We use account details to keep the account working and safe. We do not sell this information, show targeted adverts or ask for your school or date of birth. Ask your parent or guardian to contact us if you want to see, correct or delete information.

The service is designed for 11+ practice, so children’s privacy is considered from the start. A parent or guardian must create and oversee an account for a child under 13. We collect only the information needed to provide the available service features, use privacy-protective defaults, and do not show targeted advertising.

No new tuition bookings or tuition conversations can be created while the marketplace is paused. Any earlier records remain subject to the safeguards and retention periods in this notice.

Parents and guardians can contact us to ask about, correct or delete a child’s account information.

Who processes information for us?

We use service providers only where needed to operate 11 Plus Edge. These include Render for application hosting, Supabase for database and file storage, Stripe for subscriptions, Brevo for transactional email, and Namesco for domain and email-forwarding services.

The tuition marketplace is currently paused. 11 Plus Edge does not collect lesson fees or make tutor payouts.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. The applicable provider terms and data-processing agreements use a lawful UK transfer mechanism where required, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, together with contractual and security measures. Contact support@11plusedge.co.uk to ask which mechanism applies to a provider or to request information about the relevant safeguards; commercially confidential wording may be redacted.

How long we keep it

  • Account details and practice results are kept while the account is active or until deletion is requested, unless they are needed for a legal claim.
  • Payment and tax records may be kept for up to six years.
  • Support correspondence is normally kept for up to two years after the matter is resolved.
  • Mock and question issue reports are normally kept for up to two years after resolution so that fixes and repeated problems can be checked.
  • Email-verification challenge records are normally removed within 90 days. Successful verification status is kept while the account remains active.
  • Unsuccessful tutor applications and related check metadata are normally deleted within six months after the process ends, unless needed for a safety or legal matter.
  • Booking and review records are normally kept for six years where needed for contracts, disputes, tax or legal claims.
  • Private booking messages and related reports are normally kept with the booking record for up to six years where needed for safeguarding, disputes or legal claims. Content may be hidden from users without erasing a necessary audit record.
  • Safeguarding and conduct records are kept only for a proportionate period based on their seriousness, legal duties and the need to protect children.
  • Rate-limit counters contain a keyed digest rather than a readable IP address, email or account identifier. The counter, number of attempts and timestamps are automatically deleted no later than 30 days after the counter was last updated.
  • Other security logs are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for security and fault investigation and are reviewed under the applicable hosting-provider retention settings.
